At the point
where the north wall meets the east wall, one large spherical stone sits
majestically. Ed himself called it the 'Mars statue' eliminating any doubt
about what it stands for. Why did Ed carve planet Mars on a Love Monument? If you observe closely, you can see plants growing on top of Mars. I was told that Ed had carved a small hole on top and he grew plants, watering them everyday. There are also rumors that after Ed's death, someone found a treasure map in a plastic bag placed in this hole. Anyway, the mars statue belongs in the "Planet Corner", the northeast corner of Coral Castle.
